OnSong for Mac Users and Everyone Else!

August 2016
Version 1.1 Has Been Released
It has been a busy couple of weeks in the OnSong office.  We have had a great response so far to OnSong Console for Mac, but like any first release, we've found a few areas we could improve stability an performance as well as fix a crash when running OS X 10.9.  We have also created a tutorial video on how to connect your devices. We hope this will help you get up and running more efficiently.
As always, we will continue to improve OnSong Console for Mac with more updates and tutorial videos.  If you have any feedback or issues, please contact our Mac support staff at macsupport@onsongapp.com
Over the last few versions we've added features like chord tagging and new MIDI sync events as well as improvements to our rendering engines to be more consistent across multiple file types. We have also fixed many issues when running OnSong on older versions of iOS.  For best results, please backup your library and update when you have time between gigs.
Stay tuned for more tutorial videos as they're available.
Read our current release notes, and user manual updates.

Use Different Diagrams on Chords
Chord charts are great for singing lyrics and the basic chord structure of a song.
OnSong has the capability to show you chord diagrams so you can play these chords.
How you play a chord makes a difference with how the song sounds and easily transitioning between multiple chords. Wouldn't it be great to get a different diagram depending on where you are at in the song?
In the latest version of OnSong, you can now set multiple chord variations throughout the song with a few simple taps. Watch the Tutorial
Apple is set to launch iOS 10 within the next few days and we at OnSong want to make sure you are prepared.  It can be unsettling to wonder "should I upgrade or not?"  To help reduce that anxiety, we want to let you know our plan and offer a few tips when considering an iOS upgrade.
1.  If It Ain't Broke... At OnSong, we work hard to ensure OnSong works great on every version of iOS we support.  However, we've had to make a number of adjustments this past year as Apple has changed iOS 9. Please be aware that operating system upgrades can cause issues in many apps you use.  Confirm that all of your critical apps are working as expected before making the leap.
2.  Be prepared.  While you should never experience data loss when upgrading iOS or OnSong, there is always the potential for an unexpected problem.  We recommend that you always keep a backup of your OnSong Library and your iOS device before you upgrade.

3.  Allow plenty of time.  Never install an iOS upgrade or OnSong update prior to a show. Give yourself plenty of time to use the software and learn about new or changed features. OnSong provides full release notes anddocumentation to get up to speed.  This also gives us plenty of time toanswer your questions or help to get you up and running. Be sure to disable automatic updates so you have control when updates get installed.
4.  Follow us.  Facebook and Twitter are great ways for us to keep in touch. We will let you know important information about iOS 10, OnSong and other apps so you can make an informed decision on the best time to push the button.
While our team has been testing OnSong on the beta versions of iOS 10 for the past few months, we can always use your help to ensure a seamless transition. If you have a device you don't use in a live scenario, you can install and preview the iOS 10 beta today.  You can also join the OnSong beta team to help us make OnSong awesome.

How are You Changing the World this April 22nd?

Looking for something to promote on Earth Day this April? How about showing your readers how much good they could do by using AirTurn to turn digital pages and ditch their paper habit. The average office worker uses approximately 10,000 sheets of paper per year according to the US EPA. It takes one tree to produce half of a box of paper. This means that starting to reduce our paper use by even one box a year, can save 2 trees annually. How many trees do you think you can save this year? By using AirTurn to control your tablet or computer, you can view your sheet music, books, magazines and newspapers; saving an average of 700 pounds of paper products each year. That adds up to approximately 280 trees. Make an effort to save some trees this year. You don't have to wait until April 22nd to make our planet a little greener.

GoodReader adds AirTurn Functionality!
GoodReader® is the super-robust PDF reader for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. Mashable describes it as "a Swiss Army knife of awesome!" Reviews worldwide hail it as "essential," "the best," "magnificent" and "the killer app". With GoodReader on your iPad/iPhone, you can read virtually anything, anywhere: sheet music, tabs, books, movies, maps, pictures.
We asked GoodReader's founder, Yuri Selukoff, what makes GoodReader special for musicians.
"When it comes to reading sheet music PDFs, GoodReader is the most natural choice. Its powerful and super-stable PDF engine and advanced reading options, like double-page spreads and the ability to easily handle vast collections of files on your iPad, provide you with the reliability and convenience you need when playing a live gig. The only thing that was missing before is the support for Bluetooth page-turning pedals. The last thing a musician needs during a live performance is to break her rhythm just to turn a page on an iPad with a hand. Now, with GoodReader's support for hands-free page-turning devices, musicians can use their hands for what they do best - playing music, rather than interrupting the play to turn a page." Check out GoodReader HERE today and let us know what you think of it.  Offering your readers and fans compatible AirTurn Apps helps improve conversions. The more options they have to utilize AirTurn solutions greatly contributes to your increase in sales each month. Click HERE for a list of more Apps that can be used with AirTurn.
